Job Summary
The Labor Relations Specialist works with Labor Relations Counsel and a team of labor relations specialists to provide day-to-day advice and counsel to managers, supervisors, and human resources related to establishing and maintaining effective labor management relations across Sanford. Establishes and maintains effective labor-management relations at all levels. Interprets Sanford's collective bargaining agreements to ensure proper compliance and competitive positioning for negotiations. This includes developing strategic bargaining proposals and/or proactive solutions to current issues.
Supports/administers/counsels leaders in response to the escalation of grievances. Provides internal clients and departments with interpretation and communication of changes in CBA wages, benefits information and other contractual terms. In addition, brainstorms solutions to complicated situations and executes research and resolution of certain contractual disputes and obligations.
Demonstrates confidence and skill in negotiating capabilities. Handles confidential information in a mature and professional manner. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Displays strong attention to detail and accuracy. Exhibits excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Provides expertise to support or conduct training sessions related to labor relations, benefits, employee engagement or effective leadership principles.
Qualifications
Bachelor s degree in business, human resources, labor or related field required or five or more years relevant experience.
Minimum five years experience in the labor relations field or a related industry.
Experience in leading labor negotiations and responding to union organizing attempts is preferred.
Labor Relations experience within a healthcare setting is a plus.
Working knowledge of National Labor Relations and other related federal and state laws.
Advanced experience and skills with Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other Office software tools required.
Advanced written and verbal communication skills required.
Current valid driver s license, and must meet all medical guidelines for Sanford Health Category III drivers.
