AB Mauri North America has a long heritage dating back to the introduction of Fleischmann’s Yeast in the US in 1868. The business has multiple locations across the United States and Canada including a regional headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri; yeast plants in Memphis, Tennessee, Calgary, Alberta and LaSalle, Quebec; and bakery ingredient facilities in Wilsonville, Oregon, Greenville, Texas and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The role of CFO provides an exciting career opportunity for the successful candidate to establish a compelling strategic vision and leadership for the Finance and IT functions across the North America region. You will operate at the heart diverse regional organization, partnering with the Region President and senior leadership teams to support business growth opportunities underpinned by a compliant and fit for purpose control environment.


This role provides an excellent platform for future career development within AB Mauri or the wider ABF group of companies to develop within Finance or potential opportunities for a transition into general management roles.



Position


Objective:



The AB Mauri CFO will provide strategic direction, leadership and responsibility to deliver the administration of financial reporting, lead the business performance cycle including monthly reporting, quarterly forecasts, annual budgets, and continuous update of the region 5 year strategic plan.



Ensure compliance with Company policies and statutory accounting standards, providing the business with a fit for purpose control environment. Working with the Global Finance and IT functions to implement efficiency projects and talent development to build a team capable of supporting the business in future challenges.



A strategic business partner, contributing to the fulfillment of the Company’s profitability objectives across the short term and longer term horizon.



Key Result Areas:



Performance Standards:



Reporting



  • Ensure the completeness and accuracy of financial statements.

  • Manage financial programs and supporting information systems to ensure accurate financial information is available for all lead disciplines.

  • Coordinate the preparation of financial reports, and analysis of information as required.

  • Ensure all financial reporting is completed as required by ABF.

  • Manage and report the Company’s short and long term financial performance by developing accurate forecasts and projections, monitoring variances to plans and developing action plans to address issues.



Planning



  • Work with key managers providing strategic consultation on financial issues, including financial analysis and projections, cost identification and allocation, and revenue and expense analysis.
  • Lead the strategic planning process and ensure budgets and three-year plans are completed according to ABF standards and within established time frames.

  • Work with key managers in developing and implementing business plans and assess the economic/financial impact of major business decisions on the organization.

  • Assist in evaluating and recommending new business development strategies and companies for acquisition.

  • Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the company and function as the key financial resource.



IT



  • Provide oversight and set a strategic agenda for the IT department to ensure the technology and will fulfill business and function requirements now and in the future.

  • Ensure IT security standards are maintained to protect company assets and prevent business disruption.



Compliance



  • Ensure the financial records are in accordance with company policies and statutory Accounting Standards.

  • Serve as the financial liaison to financial institutions, auditors and attorneys.

  • Manage risk and insurance requirements.



M&A



  • Identify targets/opportunities to grow the business

  • Identify and manage risks associated with any merger or acquisition deal

essential skills and knowledge



  • Bachelor degree in accounting, business or finance with heavy emphasis in accounting.

  • Professional/Certified accountant.

  • Minimum 10 years professional level public accounting and/or industry experience, including minimum of four years in a supervisory role.

  • Experience working for a multinational company.

  • Knowledge of financial accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting principles, methods, techniques and standards.

  • Knowledge of USA and Canadian GAAP.

  • Ability to develop and implement strategic business and operating plans.

  • Strong experience in Microsoft applications
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal relations skills.

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.

  • Experience of overseeing IT functions and projects

  • Experience are M&A projects and financial due diligence.

  • Experience working in a food manufacturing company.

  • Knowledge of integrated business systems software operating on AS400 platform.

  • Masters degree in business administration with accounting or finance emphasis.

  • Experience working with Canadian operations.
