Job Summary:
We are currently seeking dynamic adjunct public health faculty to join our Public Health Department to teach in the following areas or specialties:
*Epidemiology (undergraduate and graduate)
*Environmental Health (graduate)
*Public Health Policy (graduate)
*Public Health Capstone Seminar (graduate)
*Sexuality in Health & Society (undergraduate)
*Public Health Field Training (graduate)
These positions are temporary and part-time in nature. Positions are filled on a term basis to fill the changing needs of the College of Health and Society. Courses are offered days, evenings, and/or weekends to meet the needs of the University, our students and our community partners.
Openings are anticipated for the Fall 2022 (Aug 2022 – Dec 2022) and Spring 2023 (Jan 2023 – May 2023).
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in public health or equivalent degree
- Knowledge, skills and abilities related to the areas and specialties listed above
- One year of university teaching experience or evidence of teaching and community-based teaching as part of professional expertise.
Desired Qualifications:
- PhD, DrPH. or equivalent degree and 2 years of recent public health-related work experience
- Current Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) certification
- Two years of teaching experience in higher education
- Availability to teach courses during weekdays, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
- Experience with online teaching using Blackboard or similar learning management systems
Other Qualifications:
- Report to work obligations to support the department including faculty meetings, committee meetings (if assigned), and community outreach events (if assigned).
- Must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with the Protection of Minors policy.
- Upon hire, candidate must have reliable transportation to all HPU worksites and other locations as required by the position.
- Able to teach classes scheduled during days, evenings, and/or weekends.
- Able to teach online courses.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Teaching (90%)
- Regular class delivery
- Appropriate course development and management: assignments, work flow, grading, classroom conducive to learning
2. Faculty Membership (5%)
- Regular attendance at University, College and department meetings.
- Regular attendance at community outreach events (if assigned).
- Regular attendance and participation in Committee meetings (if assigned).
3. Performs other related duties as assigned (5%)
Actively participates as an effective member of team by completing assigned duties, accepting additional assignments or reassignments
