Position Purpose 

Sleep Number is seeking a professional Executive Assistant who thrives in a results-driven, fast-paced environment, who can juggle multiple priorities, and who can exercise creativity and good judgement in a variety of situations. 

This role plays an integral role in our fast-paced, high-growth organization.  This role operates as the primary partner and right hand to the EVP, Chief Innovation Officer and is responsible for managing the day-to-day leadership and support needs contributing to the EVP’s efficiency and effectiveness through insight, intellectual capacity, planning and agility.   The Executive Assistant is responsible for procedure and operational management of the function’s leadership team meetings and travel for the Chief Innovation Officer’s direct staff.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Hands on thought leadership to product innovation development planning and meeting cycles inclusive of product roadmap, stage gate and collaborative partner (internal & external) planning.
  • Ability to understand series of innovation pillars and projects (the relationships); demonstrate capacity for critical thinking to optimize relationships for priorities and calendars.
  • Plan development events in collaboration with product leadership to include preparing the agenda, planning logistics, preparing materials, and ensuring that everything runs smoothly during the meeting.  This includes staff and team meetings.
  • Demonstrate foresight to effectively manage upcoming priorities and ensure the leadership team is prepared to accomplish objectives with materials and business recaps needed.
  • Navigate complex calendaring through Outlook to ensure efficiency and maximum use of leader's time, effectively navigating changing priorities as they occur.
  • Plan and organize travel, proactively anticipating and managing travel-related issues and coordination.  Knowledgeable of individual travel patterns and preferences. (Chief Innovation Officer & direct staff)
  • Ensure all correspondence is accurate, complete and properly handled.
  • Pursue opportunities to change or lean out processes or approaches.
  • Demonstrate initiative, discretion and tact to respond quickly to and anticipate needs. 
  • Operate as a liaison between leaders, team members, and cross-functional partners. 
  • Create and collect content to compile PowerPoint presentations. 
  • Build cross-functional internal relationships, including partnering closely with other Executive Assistants who support C-level, VP and Director level leaders.
  • Act as a key partner on special projects as needed.

Position Requirements 

Experience

  • Progressive administrative assistant experience, supporting C-suite executives in a 1-1 partnership at high-growth organizations.
  • Project management experience preferred. 

Education

  • Four-year degree preferred or equivalent experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong communication skills (clarity, spelling, dictation, oral)
  • Strong organizational, planning, scheduling and time management – strong program management
  • Organized and detail-oriented - creating order out of chaos- know what matters, understand and learn key strategic material, intellectually curious and consistent learner of the world around them.
  • Tenacious and driven and highly organized, ability to keep pace of product organization
  • Ability to establish trust and handle confidential information
  • Capacity to be aware of, control, and express your emotions, and to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically
  • Experience driving the organizing and preparation of events.  
  • Strong knowledge and proficiency on Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel.  Skilled at creating professional and visually sophisticated PowerPoint presentations, Virtual meeting set up and planning skills. Proficient with Office 365.
