Teacher

Sylvan Kahala in Honolulu, HI is looking for part-time reading, writing, math and science teachers to join our team. We are located in Kahala Mall. Teaching locations could be our center or at schools in Honolulu. Our ideal candidate is attentive, caring, and hard-working.

Responsibilities

• Educate students according to predetermined guidelines
• Plan, coordinate, and implement student learning plans
• Provide a positive and nurturing learning environment
• Demonstrates academic competence in subject area(s): reading, writing, math, test prep.
• Recognizes the relationship between social-emotional learning and academic performance and shows an ability to teach the “whole child.”
• Designs and facilitates differentiated and personalized learning goals and activities that follow a coherent sequence, are aligned to instructional goals, and engage students in high-level cognitive activity.

Qualifications

• Skilled in reading, writing, test prep, math up to and including Algebra 2 and/or skilled in chemistry, physics or biology
• Experience working as a teacher
• Ability to remain patient and positive with students
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
• Bachelor’s degree in Education or subject-matter field preferred
• Recent teaching experience a plus
• Must be COVID vaccinated
