The primary mission of Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF) is to provide financial resources and related services for ministry, witness, and outreach of The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (LCMS). In so doing it shall raise funds primarily through the issuance of corporate notes and other debt instruments. Its assets shall be used exclusively for the following: To provide financing and services for the acquisition of sites; the construction of facilities; the purchase of buildings and equipment; operating expenses; professional church worker education; the residential housing needs of professional church workers; and other purposes approved by its governing board consistent with the ministry and mission of the Synod under policies approved by the Board of Directors of the Synod.

Reporting Relationship

The Chief Growth Officer reports to the President & CEO.



Summary



The Chief Growth Officer is responsible for supporting growth goals by coordinating, leading, and mentoring customer-facing staff and operations. This role serves as the conduit between the districts and the national office, promoting effective communication and collaboration.



Essential Job Functions

  • Serves on the District and National Office Leadership Teams.

  • Develops and executes strategic plans to meet organization’s growth goals.

  • Maintains appropriate staffing level to meet goals and objectives. Recruits and hires new staff as necessary and within assigned budget.

  • Coaches and mentors new and existing staff, leveraging their skills and talents to achieve high performance.

  • Establishes measurable performance objectives and holds staff accountable. Reviews performance regularly and provides appropriate feedback. Supports personal and professional development by identifying opportunities for growth and learning.

  • Inspires and promotes collaboration between all customer-facing teams to ensure timely and efficient communication, resulting in delivering the highest level of professionalism and service to LCEF customers.

  • Identifies opportunities and partners with stakeholders to evaluate viability of those opportunities.

  • Develops and nurtures relationships with existing and potential customers and ministry partners.

  • Provides oversight, strategy, and guidance to National Lending Solutions team (Recognized Service Organization and Rostered Church Worker lending) to ensure loan opportunities are coordinated and captured.

  • Provides oversight, strategy, and guidance to District Solution team to ensure loans and other solutions are coordinated and captured. Partners with LCEF districts, particularly District Presidents, to ensure LCEF is providing the financial and related services necessary for success.

  • Provides oversight, strategy, and guidance to Ministry Solutions team to ensure clarity, stewardship, ministry expansion campaigns, governance, development, and worker wellness solutions are coordinated and captured. Collaborates with ministry partners to maximize resources and reduce duplication.

  • Provides oversight, strategy, and guidance to Real Estate Solutions team to ensure advisory, brokerage, property management of other real estate owned (OREO), and real estate development solutions are coordinated and captured. Partners with outside vendors to maximize resources.

  • Ensures vertical integration, fosters collaboration, and leverages synergies by and between all divisions and departments reaching customers.

  • Coordinates with Credit Review to assure timely underwriting and monitor and address delinquent, impaired and/or troubled loans.

  • Coordinates with Marketing to ensure collateral materials and resources are available to support Field Solutions.

  • Coordinates with Legal to ensure products and services are compliant.

  • Manages department budget to ensure that sufficient funds are available to meet objectives while adhering to organizational stewardship and efficient practices.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in management, marketing, public relations, finance, or related field; MBA preferred.

  • Ten years of progressive experience in business development and managing cross-functional teams in multiple channels of business. Financial industry and/or lending experience preferred.

  • Active member of an LCMS congregation; rostered worker preferred.

  • Understands business implications of decisions. Ability to assess, evaluate and provide sound judgment in carrying out duties.

  • Ministry focus with an equally keen awareness of fiscal responsibility is mandatory, balancing the need to support the ministries of The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod with the need to meet the financial objectives of the LCEF.

  • Travel is required.
