Business Manager for Assessment and Evaluation Language Resource Center (AELRC), Department of Linguistics - Georgetown University

The primary mission of Georgetown's Assessment and Evaluation Language Resource Center (AELRC) - housed in our Department of Linguistics - is to facilitate useful assessment and evaluation practices that help foreign language educators innovate and improve their programs, ensure accountability to students and society, and articulate the value of foreign language studies in the world today. In carrying out this mission, the AELRC focuses on three interrelated aspects of foreign language education in the United States: underrepresented languages, populations, and institutions; student learning outcomes assessment; and the Seal of Biliteracy.

The AELRC Business Manager (ABM) - in a term, part-time role - is responsible for its day-to-day financial operations, with main responsibilities such as navigating the departmental business processes established for the Georgetown Management System (GMS) Financials - including accounts payable, purchasing, financial reconciliations, expense reports, reimbursements, and deposits. They also ensure that the financial management of all of AELRC's Sponsored Projects (research grants) complies with both sponsors' requirements and the University's policies and procedures.

Reporting to the Center Director and the Department Administrator; and working with a team that includes the Center Director, student workers, and Linguistics Department staff, the ABM has duties that include but are not limited to:
Manage financial processing within and outside Georgetown's financial management system
Prepare varying custom reports for the variety of cost centers in the Center and work with the Center Director on cost center reconciliations
Support the hiring and management of student hourly employees
Prepare expense reports and other financial transactions
Perform other duties assigned within the scope of the ABM's responsibilities

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
At least 3 years of experience in a professional office environment with specific experience related to accounting or financial transactions

Preferred qualifications
Work experience in higher education and/or familiarity with Georgetown
Training in GMS Financials and training in managing Sponsored Projects (grants)

The ideal candidate is a good communicator, energetic, flexible, highly professional, efficient, task-oriented, and mature, and able to demonstrate good judgment and to problem-solve in a team environment.
