Curriculum and Instructional Design Specialist


Purpose of role: The Curriculum and Instructional Design Specialist is responsible for training curriculum and instructional development across customer success by utilizing consistent practices for design and establishing methods for delivery assuring that learning events are successful and meet business goals and compliance.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:



  • Assesses scope of training needs across all supported audiences for new product, process, and system rollouts, creating schedules for development, delivery, and methods for evaluation

  • Designs and develops programs for learning experiences ranging from New Hire/New Role transition training to ongoing learning for new products, processes, and technology

  • Develops instructional strategies, course materials, assessment techniques, and appropriate integration of instructional technologies and best practices for all learning events

  • Designs and produces learning materials in a variety of formats including print, graphics, audio, video, and multimedia to support communication and learning needs

  • Coordinates the use of multimedia technology and authoring tools to support the online learning environment through training and implementation, and promotes the expanded use of Course Management Software tools

  • Researches and makes recommendations on educational best practices, instructional resources, instructional technologies, and multimedia hardware/software to support teaching and learning

  • Evaluates training methodology and delivery technology, documents findings, and leads efforts for improvement

  • Works with Trainers to ensure that all learning materials are up to date

  • Participate in internal and external auditing activities to ensure training meets all regulatory and compliance requirements

  • Participate in various Customer Success activities as required by the organization

  • All other duties as assigned


Education and Skillset:



  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in training and/or instructional design

  • 2+ years of experience conducting training/OJT, coaching, and/or mentoring, LMS experience preferred

  • 3+ years of instructional design and curriculum development

  • Audiology or medical device industry experience preferred

  • 2+ years of experience with learning management systems (Totara, Docebo, etc.)

  • Working knowledge of Operations processes plus

  • Strong analytical and interpersonal experience

  • Classroom management/facilitation experience

  • Act as a positive and dynamic role model for Customer Service Staff

  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Applications, including Excel, Outlook, Teams, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Training / Education certifications a plus


A minimum of 200Mb/sec download and 10Mb/sec upload speed internet connectivity is required to support any remote/hybrid employee functionality at Sonova
