*Executive Director, Racial Justice Institute - Georgetown University*

The [Racial Justice Institute (RJI)](https://apptrkr.com/get_redirect.php?id=3424927&targetURL=https://rji.georgetown.edu/about/) creates and inspires racial justice. Building from Georgetown's values and historical experience with slavery, RJI activates the resources of the university and collaborates with an expansive range of partners. Working across boundaries, RJI catalyzes innovative social change through scholarship, interventions, and transformative strategies.

*Job *Overview

The *Executive Director (ED*) is responsible for overseeing and directing the RJI's day-to-day operations. They collaborate with the faculty co-directors to design and implement a long-term growth strategy to advance RJI's mission. The co-directors set the strategic vision and overall agenda for the Institute and look to the ED to guide implementation of this vision.

The ED supervises the administrative staff of the Institute and is responsible for key functions, including external relations, communications, events, grant applications and management, and budget management.

*Work Interactions*

The *ED *supervises the administrative staff of the RJI and works closely with the co-directors; and works with the President's office, the Schools and home departments of the Founding Faculty, and other administrative units to ensure coordination on communications, budgets, and human resources. The ED builds and deepens relationships across the University, with other racial justice institutes, and with community organizations and foundations.


* Master's degree required - terminal degree preferred - PhD or equivalent, JD, MD
* 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in academic, NGO, community group, or research center settings
* Strong leadership skills
* Exceptional communications skills including written documentation, public speaking, and relationship building
* Experience with complex racial justice issues
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
* Experience managing a team to achieve strategic goals and vision
* Experience with grant writing and grant management preferred
