We are excited to announce our Financial Analyst opening Newark, NJ!

The Financial Analyst is responsible for the completion and maintenance, recording, and reporting of accounting transactions utilizing advanced Excel functions and MIP accounting software. The Financial Analyst is accountable for reconciliation and analysis of assigned bank accounts and general ledger accounts to detect errors and ensures timely and accurate distribution of internal financial reports.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities of a Financial Analyst:

  • Record cash receipts in the accounting system and cash journal and scan supporting documentation for deposits
  • Prepare Medicaid deposit controls
  • Reconcile key bank accounts to cash sub-ledger
  • Reporting for assigned grant(s)/contract(s)
  • Prepare and enter journal entries in the MIP accounting system
  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements and supporting financial schedules
  • Format and distribute monthly cost center reports; assist with follow up questions
  • Maintain accounting files including journal entries and bank statements
  • Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts and resolve open items
  • Prepare Accounts Receivable aging and follow through with responsible staff on collection issues
  • Enter budget and quarterly expenditure data in CIMS for contracts
  • Support the preparation of year-end audit requirements and questions
  • Perform special projects as assigned by Director of Finance/Controller
  • Maintain flexible work schedule (as per business demands)

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or a quantitative field such as business, finance, economics, or statistics required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in general accounting

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of financial statements and basic accounting procedures
  • Skilled in the application of advanced Excel functions including pivot tables
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Access database software and accounting software
  • Ability to process a large volume of transaction data
