RubinBrown is looking for a Chief Talent Officer (CTO) to lead our talent acquisition, talent development, and team member experience activities.

This leadership position is responsible for talent acceleration from talent recruitment, talent management, and talent engagement (which encompasses talent development, performance management, talent training, and culture). Ultimately, you will manage all talent aspects of our firm and build a workplace that fosters our core values.

Additionally, the CTO executes strategies to create a talent pipeline for leadership roles throughout the organization.

The CTO is a key member of the firm's Executive Team and reports to the Managing Partner.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design and execute a comprehensive talent process.

    • Make recommendations on changes to current process or create entirely new process.
    • Implement as much objective data as possible into the talent planning process, in addition to subjective measures.
    • Implement follow-up/action items from talent planning discussions.

  • Develop relationships with firm leaders (e.g. chairman, managing partner, office managing partners, service line leaders and industry group leaders).
  • Serve as primary contact relationship for talent related vendors (e.g. assessments, leadership development, training, etc.)

    • Provide necessary data and information requested by vendors
    • Evaluate current leadership development programs and assessment tools, make recommendations as needed.

  • Foster and encourage an inspired team member experience


Talent Acquisition

  • Establish a talent scouting and recruitment strategy by sourcing and building relationships with both experienced and campus candidates.
  • Boost the organization's talent brand and visibility cooperating with key departments.


Talent Development

  • Organize, supervise, and evaluate team member training programs
  • Guide team members through their career progression.

    • Evaluate performance management process and how data from this process can be used to predict the future performance and potential of talent.
    • Evaluate team member training programs and provide input on core competencies for each level.
    • Communicate career paths for all team members.

  • Develop and manage a succession planning process for all firm org chart leadership positions.

    • Create and manage a talent "playbook" for driving potential and performance of top talent, preparing for succession and future leadership changes, etc.
    • Drive discussion and suggested changes to roles within the firm.


Preferred Experience/Background/Skills

  • Bachelor's and or Master's degree in Business, Human Resources, Organizational Development or equivalent
  • Ten or more years of applicable experience

    • Professional services experience, preferred

  • Senior Professional Human Resources certification (SPHR), preferred
  • Superior communication, interpersonal skills and executive presence
  • Proven evidence of driving strategy/direction through innovation and continuous improvement
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel and PowerPoint required)
  • Strict adherence to professional ethics


Working Conditions

  • The typical office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Ability to work extra hours as determined by the workload and client expectations
  • Travel for this position is 25%
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to speak English to communicate with clients, team members, vendors, etc
