About Us:


Many Languages One Voice (MLOV) fosters leadership and facilitates community-led initiatives to increase the meaningful inclusion and civic participation of people in the District of Columbia who do not speak English as their primary language in decisions that impact their lives. We approach this by using uniquely integrated strategies that raise awareness of, educate, consult with, advocate for, and organize around the rights of the District’s immigrant community of limited and non-English speakers.


Marginalized people are often ignored in the search for roles in companies. MLOV encourages people of color and women to apply. We believe that these communities must be centered in the work we do. Hence, we strongly encourage applications from people with these identities or who are members of other marginalized communities.


Responsibilities:


Vision, Strategy Development and New Initiatives


Work closely with the Board to:



  • Develop implement the strategy for how the MLOV can best accomplish its vision

  • Ensure that strategy is documented shared within the organization, fully owned embraced by all staff

  • Initiate new projects programs that can catalyze change build on core strengths, while ensuring consistency with strategic direction

  • Protect advance strong organizational reputation brand


Fundraising


Work closely with board and staff to:



  • Lead the fundraising efforts of the MLOV, including hiring high-performing development staff supporting the Board’s involvement in fundraising

  • Establish a coherent fundraising strategy in partnership with staff Board; set actionable timelines goals for implementation

  • Personally cultivate, maintain, nurture relationships with major individual/institutional donors solicit support as needed

  • Expand visibility support within corporations, bi-lateral multilateral donors and other target donor constituencies

  • Drive visibility of MLOV within key audiences (corporations others) to encourage the development of philanthropic initiatives in partnership with various partners


External Visibility Representation


With support from staff board, be the lead public face for the organization in support of key visibility, development and influence goals:



  • Ensure positive relationships with partner organizations, policymakers, media, etc.

  • Represent the organization by participating strategically in key associations organizations, serving on committees, boards and advisory groups

  • Speak in major public settings to high profile business, policy, philanthropy forums to sustain build organizational visibility influence

  • Play key role in garnering major media attention, engaging in strategic high-profile media opportunities as appropriate

  • Represent the MLOV in a positive way within the organization in interactions with individual organizations external to the MLOV.

  • Maximize outreach impact using a variety of social media digital tools, data metrics and analysis



Leadership & Management



  • Provide leadership for entire organization, including staff volunteers

  • Lead by example in modeling vision core values of the MLOV as well as advancing strategic direction plan with all staff

  • Model effective leadership with MLOV Executive Team, staff, Board and outside constituents

  • Supervise, support mentor the MLOV staff

  • Develop implement a staffing structure personnel policies that support the efficient delivery of programs services, accomplishment of major goals identified in the strategic plan, effective overall management that represents the core values of the organization and is inclusive diverse

  • Ensure retention, development, growth of staff talent


Programs


Work with the staff to:



  • Manage the programs of MLOV, including hiring high-performing staff with knowledge of programmatic priorities deep understanding of grantee partners their contexts

  • Oversee the creation, development, implementation of programs services that best advance the mission of the MLOV

  • Sustain build the organization’s strong relationships.

  • Advance effective organizational advocacy, communications, campaign activities that build visibility and influence and engagement among key audiences on critical issues of youth development

  • Ensure positive relationships with partner organizations, policymakers, media, etc.

  • Speak effectively to the direct impact of all programs with donor partnership organizations


Impact Effectiveness


Work with the staff to:



  • Manage the impact effectiveness function of the MLOV, including hiring high-performing staff with knowledge expertise in systemizing the evaluation of key elements of the work

  • Ensure the organization sustains a clear theory of change and that is well understood internally externally that evolves as necessary

  • Ensure effective monitoring, evaluation, assessment structures are built into design of grantmaking initiatives

  • Ensure the development implementation of an organization-wide learning and monitoring evaluation framework to capture information regarding MLOV short-term long-term impact


Finance Administration


Work closely with staff to:



  • Manage the operations of the MLOV, including hiring high-performing staff to manage human financial resources

  • Develop realistic annual financial goals plans as well as make decisions consistent with those goals plans as approved by the Board

  • Develop financial guidelines controls to monitor spending hiring practices, and ensuring organization stays within its approved budget for spending

  • Work in direct partnership with the Board to keep them apprised of any budget challenges and improvements, or necessary changes with a forward-looking mindset to adjust for any significant deviations from the annual budget in a timely manner


Board Relations


Work closely with Board to:



  • Advance the mission vision of MLOV

  • Manage staff support for the work of the Board and Board Committees

  • Closely work with Board governance processes to ensure a strong, diverse and, active Board that reflects the values mission of the organization

  • Facilitate ensure Board engagement in all organizational activities

Requirements:


The Executive Director will be highly energetic and passionate, with a track record of achievement in previous leadership roles in philanthropic organizations, a commitment to social justice and equity, established regional networks and relationships within the sector, and demonstrated business acumen. The Executive Director will be skilled at working in close partnerships to develop and set the strategic direction of a philanthropic institution. While respecting the historic grant portfolio, this seasoned, confident leader will effectively bring new approaches forward that will enable MLOV to achieve continued impact with its philanthropy.


o Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.

o Ability to speak a second language, specifically, Spanish, Amharic, Mandarin and/or French, which are aligned with our immigrant community member's languages

o Ability to flex communication style to multiple cultural environments

o Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to present to diverse audiences, specifically racially, ethnically and socioeconomically diverse communities.


The Executive Director will bring strong academic discipline to the role, with a post-graduate degree preferred.
