Description
This Host/Hostess position provides the highest level of customer service to the guests of the First Americans Museum (FAM) restaurant.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
+ Provide the highest quality of service to the guest at all times
+ Greet and seat customers in alternating sections of the restaurant as quickly as possible and present them with menus
+ May answer guest questions or make meal suggestions as appropriate and answer any questions regarding meal preparation
+ Respond in a proactive nature to guest complaints in order to satisfy guest and refer guest to proper supervisor for resolution
+ Be knowledgeable of all menu items and their status for the day
+ May expedite co-worker’s food orders as needed
+ May be required to bus tables and help other restaurant staff when necessary.
+ Hostess responsible to adhere to opening and closing checklist daily.
+ Practice sanitation standards making sure to wash hands frequently i.e. Use gloves whenever needed
+ Clean and sanitize workstations and equipment
+ Wear proper uniform at all times as specified by management.
+ Adhere to all work rules, procedures and policies established by the company,
+ This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
+ Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may be assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
+ Must have a High school diploma or GED equivalent.
+ Must have six (6) months of related experience in food service.
+ Comply with applicable food safety and food handling standards.
+ Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read and write English.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Prior host/hostess experience preferred.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Weather: Indoors: environmentally controlled, requires most or all work to be done inside; occasional outdoor work required.
Noise level: Mild to moderate.
Description of environment: This a fast-paced kitchen and dining environment in a restaurant and catering setting. Will also work in an office environment to complete other administrative duties.
Physical requirements: Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, stoop, kneel, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift. Infrequently required to sit, crouch or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 35lbs.
Travel: None.
