LOCATION:
This is an on-site position, 5 days per week.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Human Resources Manager (“HRM”) is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Nevada HR department. This position reports to the President. Duties include managing human resources activities, such as recruitment, full-cycle payroll, labor relations, benefits, training, employee services, hiring and onboarding. The HRM will also design and implement improvements to employee policies and will ensure compliance with all state and federal rules and regulations as they pertain to HR matters as well as the industries in which the company operates.

• Administer the daily HR workflow for all Nevada operations
• Enhance, develop and implement HR strategies, policies and procedures
• Oversee company benefits program and make recommendations for enhancing or modifying offerings, compensation programs, etc. to position the organization to attract and retain top talent and maintain engagement
• Oversee performance management program for the entire organization and recommend developments to meet the organizational needs
• Identify process improvements and streamline operations across the Human Resources department, with culture and development in front of mind
• Perform tasks, both routine and complex, required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development
• Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll; ensuring all payroll polices are adhered to by employees and management
• Manage hiring efforts by recruiting, interviewing, reference and background checking, and candidate selection
• Deliver a consistently high-quality candidate experience to everyone who interviews
• Partner with hiring managers to ensure job postings, job descriptions, screenings, and interviews are completed and documented in the ATS
• Onboard and educate newly hired employees on HR policies, internal procedures and regulations
• Manage employment, personnel policies and procedures, employment records, unemployment claims, training, employee benefits administration, employee communication, workers’ compensation matters, and safety and security
• Provide impartial treatment to all employees through proper practices and employment policies
• Ensure all policies are applied fairly and consistently to all employees
• Ensure all employees feel recognized and appreciated
• Facilitate the annual performance evaluation process
• Process all employment separations and conduct exit interviews
• Track and maintain all state work cards through the Cannabis Control Board and Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department
• Generate official internal documents such as offer letters, status changes and disciplinary actions
• Process record updates in the HRIS and generate reports as needed
• Maintain and organize all physical and digital employee documents and information, ensuring all private data is treated with a high level of confidentiality
• Work with management to initiate appropriate disciplinary action with employees who violate rules and regulations
• Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, cannabis regulatory training, etc.
• Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors
• Lead employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance
• Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and Nevada employment law
• Communicate effectively with team members and share appropriate information to ensure team success
• Ad-hoc projects as assigned
• Other duties as assigned
. Requirements:
• Must be at least 21-year-old
• Cannabis industry and/or retail experience highly desired
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Psychology, Human Resources, or related preferred
• PHR / SHRM-CP certification preferred
• 7+ years of Human Resources experience, 3+ in a management capacity required
• 4 + years hands on experience with Payroll processing required
• 4 + years of experience working in a HRIS; Paylocity experience preferred
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work independently and multi-task in a fast-paced, changing and challenging environment
• Superior organizational and time management skills – ability to order competing priorities is critical
• Comprehensive understanding of local, state and federal employment laws
• Knowledge of Nevada cannabis regulations is highly desired
• Exemplary interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills
• Previous work experience in a high growth, startup type environment is a plus
• Mastery of online recruiting methods (Social, LinkedIn, Sourcing) and solid ATS experience
• Spirited entrepreneurial mindset, with a love of driving the process and taking ownership of the candidate journey end-to-end
• Exceptional attention to detail - accuracy a must
• Strong proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Google Suite
• Strong decision-making and sound judgment skills
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving ability
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a remote office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time, exempt position. Exempt employees are expected to adhere to the standard hours and regular workweek of the department; however, exempt employees are also required to work any hours necessary to perform the duties of the job.
Travel:
Travel is required between three local offices – mileage reimbursed
