Join us as we develop a new Montessori preschool community on Lana’i.
We are conducting a search for an assistant teacher for a new, high-quality Montessori school on Lana’i scheduled to open in fall 2022.
In this role, you will assist the lead teacher and help children fulfill their developmental potential in an authentically prepared, exceptionally executed Montessori environment. Together with the lead teacher, you will keep the environment orderly and clean.
Training will be provided to all successful candidates; Montessori experience is helpful but not required. It is critical that the assistant teacher has a growth mindset and is open to having an on-going conversation with the lead guide on how to handle and improve work with the children. The assistant teacher must be an effective, courteous and respectful communicator.
Additional responsibilities may include supporting school-wide events; designing and leading afternoon program activities; and other projects as required. This position can be full-time or part-time.
Local candidates with appreciation and understanding of local language, culture, history, and traditions are strongly preferred.

- Have earned an associate’s degree in child development OR 60 semester credits of post-secondary education with at least nine semester credits in approved child development/early childhood courses
- Have at least six months’ experience working in an early childhood program
- Are available to join our community in fall 2022
We may prefer you over other candidates if you:
- Live in or grew up on Lana’i
- Have Montessori training or experience working in Montessori schools
- Are a US citizen or green cardholder (under certain conditions, we may sponsor non-US persons for work authorization);
- Have interesting hobbies, skills, and life experiences.
