Job Description: Blood Sample Collector

We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Blood Sample Collector to join our healthcare team. As a Blood Sample Collector, you will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients for laboratory testing, ensuring accuracy, safety, and patient comfort throughout the process. This position plays a crucial role in supporting diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities:

1. Blood Collection: Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture techniques to obtain blood specimens from patients of all ages, following established protocols and safety guidelines. Ensure proper identification of patients and specimens, labeling samples accurately to maintain traceability.

2. Patient Interaction: Interact with patients in a compassionate and professional manner, explaining procedures, addressing questions and concerns, and providing reassurance and support to alleviate anxiety and discomfort associated with blood collection.

3. Specimen Handling: Handle blood specimens with care, following proper handling and storage procedures to maintain specimen integrity and prevent contamination. Prepare specimens for transport to the laboratory, ensuring timely delivery for analysis.

4. Documentation: Document blood collection procedures, patient information, and specimen details accurately and legibly, maintaining complete and organized records in accordance with regulatory requirements and laboratory policies.

5. Quality Assurance: Adhere to established quality control measures and participate in quality assurance activities to ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results. Report any deviations or discrepancies promptly to supervisory personnel.

Requirements:

1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a phlebotomy training program or certification preferred.

2. Certification/Licensure: Phlebotomy certification (e.g., Certified Phlebotomy Technician, CPT) preferred but not required.

3. Experience: Previous experience in phlebotomy or healthcare setting preferred but not required for entry-level positions.

4. Technical Skills: Proficiency in venipuncture and capillary blood collection techniques. Familiarity with laboratory equipment and specimen processing procedures.
