Job Summary

Mandated by federal, state, and local regulations, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants work under the supervision of a licensed Physician. Within their specialty areas, they are charged with taking primary responsibility for complex patients and patient populations at risk. Their ability to plan, coordinate, and deliver ongoing care is critical and requires specialized knowledge and skills.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • The practice primarily serves patients in outpatient settings and only spends a small portion of their time, less than 20 percent, caring for those with inpatient needs.
  • Acting as an intermediary between the supervising doctor and delegated medical services, the Advanced Practice Clinician is responsible for providing medical care within the limits of his or her practice.
  • Provide comprehensive care to patients by assessing, diagnosing, treating, and managing their healthcare issues. Continuously evaluate patients’ progress to determine the effectiveness of treatment and modify the plan of care as needed.
  • Conduct prerequisites for effective sharing in conference calls.
  • Implementation of medical measures is allowed. Provision of initial supportive care is permissible.
  • An operating room isn't mandatory.
  • The requirement to respond to any ED or Unassigned call is absent.
  • In accordance with the facility's procedures, ensures complete and punctual documentation.
  • Aligns with the scope of care delineated by regulatory authorities at the federal, state, and/or municipal levels to ensure conformity.
  • Conforms with the scope of care as instructed by the supervising physician and protocols.
  • Demonstrates a reliable system for referring or transferring patients to other medical centers.
  • With a holistic approach to patient care, the healthcare personnel conducts an extensive health assessment or a focused medical evaluation depending upon the patient's health condition, exhibiting their current and comprehensive awareness of disease processes.
  • Provides patients with informed options regarding their healthcare needs and resources available.
  • Ensures that all orders for tests, procedures, and therapies are consistent with the organization's policies and procedures.
  • In tandem with other healthcare professionals, the assistant performs and documents recurrent patient assessment and devises a comprehensive care plan.
  • Acknowledges the high-level of emotional distress experienced by patients and families, and provides empathetic support and interventions that alleviate their suffering.
  • In emergency cases, prompt actions are taken based on individual patients' needs to ensure optimal outcomes.

In South Dakota Certifications - Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) - South Dakota Board of Nursing or Physician Assistant (PA) - South Dakota Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners

In Wyoming Certifications - Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) - Wyoming State Board of Nursing or Physician Assistant (PA) - Wyoming Board of Medicine

Preferred:

Experience - 1+ years of Clinical Experience; 1+ years of Healthcare Experience

Physical Requirements:

Light work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
