The Department of Interdisciplinary Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor with research interests in the area of environmental science. Preference will be given to candidates who specialize in policy as it relates to the intersection of social equity. A strong candidate will have a record of data science and GIS expertise to inform policy. We seek outstanding applicants with a demonstrated track record of excellence in research and teaching. Successful candidates are expected to develop vigorous, extramurally funded research programs in their areas of expertise, actively participate in the Department's teaching and curriculum development at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and mentor undergraduate and graduate students. Candidate will be expected to teach introductory courses in Environmental Science, and well as develop their own courses in areas of expertise. Evidence of interest and success in mentoring underrepresented students is highly desired.

  Qualifications:



 




  • Earned doctorate in Environmental Science or associated discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Biology, Geology, Geography) from an accredited institution; Strong academic record of scholarship, or professional experience commensurate with the rank of associate professor; Teaching excellence at both the undergraduate and graduate level Willingness to work collaboratively with faculty in other disciplines; and Evidence of successful grant writing experience.



Preferred Qualifications



 



Research expertise in data science, especially as it informs policy



 



Technical expertise with GIS application for teaching and research
