Job Purpose:

The Senior IT Security Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing and managing security infrastructure, providing security oversight for new and existing technology across the enterprise, and monitoring and responding to suspicious activities. The Senior IT Security Engineer also develops operational processes and procedures and serves as a subject matter expert for security operations.

Essential Functions:

Operational responsibilities for security infrastructure to maintain a healthy IT environment. Recommends improvements to current security infrastructure and process/procedures/standards. Serves as an escalation point for security operations and mentors associates.

Provides cybersecurity guidance to IT personnel in relation to new and existing infrastructure and processes. Review new security vendor products and configuration best practices. Reviews and approves new technology introduced into the enterprise.

Performs vulnerability scanning, threat hunting, pen testing and other assessment/oversight activities. Reviews results and reports security issues found within the enterprise to the appropriate owner. Tracks remediation activities to completion.

Monitors, investigates, and responds to suspicious activities in the enterprise.

Continually researches the changing threat landscape and emerging security trends, tools and techniques.

Qualifications:

Experience and Education:

5+ years in information technology with a minimum of 2+ years with a cybersecurity focus.

A four-year technical degree or equivalent work experience.

Broad information technology knowledge.

AWS, Azure, or other cloud design, implementation, and administration experience.

Working knowledge of security and compliance frameworks and practical implementation experience.

Experience with security monitoring, detection and response a plus.

IT or security certifications are a plus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

A critical thinker that is able to solve complex business and technical problems.

Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with management and associates.

Ability to independently multi-task and prioritize workload without procrastination.

Deep technical understanding of IT components and their inner workings.
