**Key Responsibilities**


+ Position will report to the Sr. Director of EHS responsible for operations in North America. Position will work closely with site management in RD&E and manufacturing and other EHS staff to drive safety and environmental programs, ensure regulatory compliance and promote continuous improvement.


+ Responsible for the program management of the health, safety, and environmental compliance function for the Applied Materials RD&E and manufacturing operations in the West Region (Oregon and Arizona) that are **not** associated with Applied Materials operations in California.


+ Performs a wide range of health and safety compliance duties including equipment and facility permitting, compliance auditing, management of change and chemical authorization approvals, record keeping and reporting, liaison with the local authorities


+ Ensure health and safety programs and management systems in place and effective to minimize the risks to employees, the environment and the community. Some of the Key Health and Safety programs for the site include:


+ New chemical review


+ Manage industrial wastewater permits


+ Support HazWaste permitting and


+ Management of Change (MoC)


+ Hazard Communication


+ Lockout/Tagout


+ Control of Hazardous Energies


+ Confined Space


+ Working at Heights


+ Accident/Incident Investigation


+ Design Review for tool installation


+ Code Review: Fire and Building


+ Ensures compliance with required health and safety, fire code and building codes, standards and regulations. Act as a liaison with local, regional or federal regulatory authorities.


+ Ensures proper investigations of health and safety incidents conducted for EH&S events anddrive corrective actions to closure


+ Review and report health and safety progress and performance for assigned site/function based on established EH&S metrics to site management.


+ Ensures that specific projects assigned are completed as planned to meet EH&S goals. Provides management with updates and escalation on projects/programs. Maintain communication channel with site/location functions.


+ Interfaces with internal and external customers regarding health and safety issues


+ Provide technical guidance on health and safety issues to the site manufacturing and engineering organizations and contribute to the development of site-wide EH&S standards and procedures.


+ Participate in the emergency response team.


+ Develops and conducts employee EH&S training.


+ Strong analytical, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills required.
