A Bulk Cargo Transport Specialist daily routine involves covering predetermined routes with frequent stops. Part of their job entails loading packages onto hand trucks and unloading products in the correct order and sequence as directed by the Bulk Cargo Transport Specialist. Their work location is at a domicile that is closer to the customer's marketplace than OpCo. They are customer-facing and have roles similar to an operating company delivery driver.

Responsibilities of Bulk Cargo Transport Specialist:

  • Develop and implement strategies for enhancing customer interaction and engagement, while ensuring customer satisfaction throughout all phases of major projects.
  • Successfully completes routes in a timely manner by adopting an efficient approach
  • Move products from the trailer to assigned storage areas using a hand truck or by hand, including navigating up and down inclines, steps, or docks, regardless of the environmental conditions.
  • Regularly handle goods weighing between 1 and 75 pounds, with some products weighing up to 100 pounds?involving frequent lifting, pushing and movement.
  • Ensure that the customer acknowledges receipt of the items and provide the required signatures as proof.
  • In case of any errors or returns, effective communication to the concerned personnel is crucial for resolving the problem.
  • The first thing we do when a customer reports receiving a partial shipment (shorts) is to verify the order details and check the inventory
  • Manages customer grievances with a high degree of professionalism and competence
  • All employees should demonstrate proper handling of company equipment, strict adherence to written driver safety guidelines, and conducting sufficient pre-journey inspections.
  • Adhere to Sysco's guidelines and the regulations of the DOT by performing pre-journey and post-journey duties
  • Increase delivery efficacy through optimized truck organization.
  • Ensure that the truck is proficient enough to carry out the assigned journey by performing a comprehensive inspection.

Qualification of Bulk Cargo Transport Specialist:

  • Students who complete high school often have the opportunity to develop valuable skills, such as critical thinking and problem-solving
  • One year of experience in delivering goods on a particular route or a background that involves driving a straight truck may be considered
  • A Class B commercial driver's license is essential for those who want to work in the transportation industry, especially if they aspire to become a truck driver or a bus operator
  • Must be able to read and understand English.
