*TITLE: STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE**CLASSIFICATION: *Professional – Level I

*AREA AND FUNCTION: *Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of the Welcome Center, the Student Support Services Representative is responsible for assisting with implementing phases of the admissions.

*CHARACTERISTICS,


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with implementing phases of the admission process, including recruitment, placement (testing and multiple measures), advisement, and registration.
  • Assist students to complete the admission process by resolving issues, and by providing basic financial aid assistance.
  • Assist with campus tours, new student orientations, parent orientations, financial literacy, FAFSA workshops, and other programs as assigned.
  • Plan, coordinate and maintain viable recruitment programs and activities, including special on-campus and off-campus events.
  • Provide on-going information to students, potential students, and parents regarding policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Review financial aid reports related to the Community College Opportunity Grant (CCOG) and compose communication/correspondence to students and others concerning requests for information or processing of Community College Opportunity Grant (CCOG) awards.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and security of student and staff records.
  • Maintain essential records and files, including records of students served and services provided.
  • Prepare routine, special, and ancillary reports as required.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
*SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND GIVEN:

Oral and written instructions are received from the Manager of the Welcome Center, or designee. The Student Support Services Representative may supervise support staff and student workers.

*MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Associate's degree.
  • Demonstrated experience in a higher education environment.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in a diverse and inclusive environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Working knowledge of computers and demonstrated ability with e-recruiting, database management and the Microsoft Office software applications.
*ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Associate's degree in Education, Counseling, or related area.
  • Two or more years of experience in admissions at an institution of higher education with knowledge of admissions guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial aid programs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the college community, local community organizations and local outside agencies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computerized record maintenance and management, preferably the Banner system.5/5/21
